About
Stationery enthusiasts with a decanting problem.
Which is a polite way of saying we kept buying whole bottles of ink to find out whether we liked them, and kept being wrong. This shop is the fix we wanted to exist.
The product is the trial, not the bottle.
A shop that sells you a full bottle is selling a commitment. We sell the bit that comes before it: the part where you find out. Being wrong about a colour should cost almost nothing, and in a sample it does.
The decanting bench
Every sample is filled by hand from a full bottle, into clean glass, and labelled before it goes anywhere. The label carries the reference and the name, because an unlabelled vial of dark blue ink is indistinguishable from every other unlabelled vial of dark blue ink. We have made that mistake so you do not have to.
No decanting happens near food, pets, or anything we would mind staining permanently. Ink finds a way.

The rabbit hole, briefly

What we will not do
No reviews we wrote ourselves.
We have no customers yet. When we do, and they say something, it will be theirs and it will be dated.
No manufacturer we do not stock.
No brand is named anywhere on this site, because no stocking agreement exists yet. Naming one would be borrowing a reputation.
No price pretending to be final.
Every figure here is provisional and labelled as such. Prices are still drying. You will be told the real one before you pay anything.
No colour promised on your paper.
We can tell you how an ink behaved on ours. What it does on yours is the thing you are buying a sample to find out.
